OnePlus 6: Here’s what we know | What can we expect from the OnePlus 6? Here are all the rumors, reveals, and reports we’ve heard so far.
The OnePlus 6 has appeared online again. While we certainly have a good idea of the phone’s appearance, no one will complain about getting another early look at this beast. Our latest view shows the flagship from the front with its notch and edge-to-edge display left nowhere to hide. The leak also shares the processor running the show here, which OnePlus confirmed earlier in the week.
Based on previous leaks, the OnePlus 6 should have a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2280×1080) AMOLED display.
The leak does repeat the fact that OnePlus says it’ll be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 as the processor. If you’re into cores and clock speeds, the alleged OnePlus 6 in the image does have some details. But what’s important to know is that OnePlus intends on pairing a high-end processor with as much as 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Though the brand hasn’t said when it’ll launch, the OnePlus 6 should be announced within the next few weeks. OnePlus recently started teasing its next flagship on social media. With the industry light on new hardware as of late, OnePlus could earn itself a lot of attention by making an announcement earlier than usual.
The design evolves. OnePlus has already revealed a teaser image of the OnePlus 6, but it’s not much to go on. Luckily, we have the Oppo R15, which is likely a blueprint for what the upcoming device will look like.
As is the norm for high end Android flagships, the OnePlus 6 will feature a bezel-less design, dual-camera setup, rear-facing fingerprint sensor, and what we suspect will be an all-glass design. Hopefully, that means OnePlus will adopt wireless charging, which is all but standard across the industry by now.
Cutting edge specs. We saw this coming from a mile away, but the OnePlus 6 will feature some of the latest specs, such as a Snapdragon 845 processor. Other confirmed specs include up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is more than enough to hold your movies, music, and pictures. We still don’t know what to expect from the camera and it’s unclear how large the battery will be.
It’ll be expensive. OnePlus began its journey by offering a premium experience at an affordable price. But over the past few years, that price has slowly climbed, with last year’s OnePlus 5T topping out at $559. That’s much more affordable than something like the iPhone X, but it doesn’t bode well for frugal consumers, as the OnePlus 6 could climb even higher if you opt for the version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of memory.
Fans have relied on OnePlus to offer a premium experience without a premium price tag. It remains to be seen how people will respond to what will likely be a more expensive device, but we’re not overly optimistic about how it’ll be received. We look to companies like OnePlus to offer offer respite from the norm, not become part of it.
A summer release. Last year’s OnePlus 5 arrived in June. With OnePlus being in such a sharing mood lately, it seems as though the OnePlus 6 is right around the corner. I’d expect the company to send out invites for a full unveiling any day now.
However, all these premium features come with a premium price tag. The OnePlus 6 will be the most expensive OnePlus device launched to date. The company will be launching three variants this time. One with 64GBstorage and 6GB RAM, which is expected to be priced around Rs 34,200. The second variant is expected to feature 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. This variant is expected to be priced around Rs 39,400. The most expensive variant with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM will be priced north of Rs 45,000.
